Landish Projects and Innovations for 2021

This year, we’re taking our vision of smarter food, inspired by you, to the next level: American-harvested ingredients, upcycled produce, new plant-based lattes, animal-free animal proteins, tree planting, cleaning up our waters and more!

A huge thank you to all Landish customers for embracing our new products brought to market in 2020. None of this would have been possible without you. We received a lot of feedback, made some key changes, and got thinking about the future. This year, we’ll take our vision, inspired by you, to the next level.

Without further ado, here’s our list of projects for this year!

Reducing Food Waste With Upcycled Fruits and Veggies

Upcycled Beets

To help tackle produce waste and its tremendous environmental cost we’ll soon be launching a product line made with powdered, whole food misfit fruits and veggies that would have otherwise been destined for a landfill. These fruits and veggies are sourced fresh from farmers, producers and grocers in the US and Canada and are of perfect nutritional quality, BUT... they’re either ugly, or too small, or the supply chain simply can’t accommodate them at any given time. You’ll now be able to reduce produce waste, one sip at a time!

New Lattes!

Beet Latte

We have some amazing new latte mixes made with some incredibly nutritious, sustainable, functional ingredients headed your way shortly!

Animal-Free Animal Proteins

Microscope

In 2021, we’ll be partnering with an incredibly exciting US-based food biotech company to bring you one of the world’s first animal proteins made with absolutely no animals involved! It’s made through a process of fermentation, whereby very special microbes convert sugar into protein.

Animal-free animal proteins are going to be a massive phenomenon, and they will play such an important role in building our food secure, sustainable future. By the way, this protein is identical to how it is in nature, complete with all 9 essential amino acids, easy-to-digest, containing no genetically modified material, and being completely free of any hormones, antibiotics or environmental contaminants. Holy smokes, right?

More US-Grown Ingredients

Canadian Farm
We’re working on expanding our offering of cutting edge US-grown and processed ingredients, both in alternative proteins and other functional ingredients. Some of these local supply chains are in the very early stages of their potential, and we plan on playing a role in helping to develop them. These two US-grown aquatic superfoods, many of our upcycled ingredients, the above-mentioned animal-free animal protein, and am exciting new plant-based protein are some examples of ingredients we are sourcing in the US. More to come on that!

Doubling Down on Gut Health

Gut Healthy

Gut health will continue to be a big theme for us this year. We’ll be introducing some clinically proven probiotics into some of our products. These probiotics are very effective at setting up shop in your gut thanks to a patented microencapsulation technology, involving microscopic plant-based envelopes that protect them from stomach acid along their journey.

Planting Trees

One Tree Planted

So far we’ve planted over 20,000 trees on protected lands throughout North America - there to stay. This was just the first step toward our objective of planting 1 million trees! This initiative is part of our commitment to making your orders carbon negative, meaning that they result in more carbon being withdrawn from the atmosphere than emitted. Reminder: we plant a tree in the US for every order on this website.

St. Lawrence River Cleanup

Ocean Cleanup

In addition to planting trees, we decided to take on another environmental cause this year. For every gram of plastic used in our packaging in 2021 and beyond, we’ll be removing an equivalent amount of plastic from the St. Lawrence River banks and rivers flowing into it—which eventually make their way into the North Atlantic, the source of our marine collagen—by supporting Mission 1000 Tonnes.

Landish’s HDPE jars and caps are both reusable and efficiently recycled (HDPE is one of the easiest plastics to recycle), and the chances of any of our plastic ending up in these rivers or the ocean are extremely slim. Regardless, this is a cause we believe the consumer packaged goods industry should support wholeheartedly. The broader theme is that beyond sourcing smarter ingredients, reducing and reusing, we should directly connect consumption to environmental remediation.

Healthy Alternative Fats

Ahiflower

Getting back to nutrition, this year we’ll be launching an oil made from different plants containing omega 3 and other healthy fats to boost your favourite lattes, smoothies and other beverages. Can't wait!

Now we get to work! More updates to come. In the meantime, stay happy and healthy.
