We are the Landish team. This was our best attempt at looking like something between professional and approachable:
How did we do?
Why we created Landish
You see, we’re all quite different from one another. We each have our interests and struggles, but there’s one problem we all know well:
CRAZY F%&#ING WORKDAYS = QUESTIONABLE NUTRITION
Yes yes yes, chilling out and making yourself a proper wholesome meal are both advised. But… situations that don’t allow for that are quite common for us. We really do our best, but it ain’t always in the cards. Frequent self-talk sounds like:
“How did I not see this in my calendar today??” (3 min before a meeting)
“My hunger is making me particularly angry about this traffic right now.”
“Oh boy, I need to do groceries.”
“This meeting is much longer than I expected.”
“I need to go to the gym but I’m hungry... but if I eat dinner now I’ll be bloated and probably puke on the treadmill.”
“I just left the gym, but dinner is still too far away.”
“This day has been ridiculous - did I get all my nutrients?”
Ahh… such a tough life eh? But hey, problems are problems, and these really cramp our style!
P.S. Why “Landish”?
It’s inspired by the word “outlandish”.
According to the Merriam-Webster:
In olden times, English speakers used the phrase outlandish man to refer to a foreigner - or, one who came from an outland, which originally meant "a foreign land." From here, outlandish broadened in usage from a word meaning "from another land" to one describing something unfamiliar or strange.
We just removed the “out” from “outlandish” to mean “familiar” or “not strange”.
This is how we feel about eating foods like insects, algae and functional mushrooms. After all, they’ve been a part of our ecosystem for much longer than we humans have and even played an important role in our survival, evolution and history. To us, these ingredients and the products we make with them are exceptional, but perfectly “landish”.
We’re a Montreal company, and all of our products are made here. You’ll also often find us in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver visiting friends and fam, and promoting our brand, one way or another.
